E-Zines or Webazines are popping up everywhere, however, and I am getting the hang of them--especially when one is as wonderful as designer Laura Day's new "webazine" Making Room for Living part Blog, part design magazine, part shopping and resource and all inspiration!
Laura Day is perhaps best known for her time on Trading Spaces and her new venture takes you inside the process of all the wonderful things that go into creating a special space.
The launch issue of Laura Day-Making Room for Living is all about "finding your Muse" and Laura takes you takes you room by room through her Park Ave home as you discover Laura's style and discover how nature, particularly Laura's love of wheatfields and feathers, influenced the design for each space and how that design for each room evolved. Laura also shares her resources for her favorite things..read about how a J Crew tunic got Laura thinking about her den--
I love everything about this site-the inspiration and mood boards bring you into the fun of creating a space.
The style pieces flow into the design views for each room and there is always a graceful link to someplace wonderful to visit or something wonderful to buy! There is music and art and chat--the launch issue has an interview with artist Walton Ford who has taken Classic Audubon painting to a very different place!
Laura has a spot on the site where she lists her favorite blogs and resources such as Jonathan Adler and Calypso Home - one of my favorite not to miss shops on St.Barths. There are great finds to buy and online sites to play and shop in as well as links and chat about people and places that have inspired and influenced Laura's work. She also shares some of her favorite books. I have notices that Laura is always updating so you will find something new to discover each time you visit. Go Play! You will not want to leave the laptop!
"This web venture—my newest adventure—is about channeling what I know and have learned in a fun way to inspire others to see their homes in a different light, take a risk or two, and find through new context a fresh life design."
