If you happen to be walking past Bloomingdale's flagship store on 59th Street this week you have a real treat in store--well actually out of store- and through the windows. Three of Bloomingdale's windows have been dressed to the nines, designed by three leading home design stars who each have created a studio vignette with an individual personality and theme using furniture and accessories from Bloomingdale's of course. Eileen Joyce, Bloomingdale's V.P. of interior design, Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan, interior designer and founder of the Apartment Therapy Blog Network and Eddie Ross, designer/stylist/editor and entrepreneur designing for for Elle Decor , have each created windows you want to unpack and move into for good!
Each designer worked within a "virtual owner"-designing their window to fit the lifestyle and taste of a fictitious, and probably very fussy, client.
Eileen Joyce for Bloomingdale's
Eileen Joyce of Bloomingdale's created her window as a New York City apartment for an Urbane Traveler, a "sophisticated travel magazine editor" incorporating collections of a lifetime from all over the globe.
The window/apartment has a mid-century flair and sports touches from Asia and Africa along with the use of textures on the floor and walls.
The Apartment Therapy window designed by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan is set in a writer's library and is all about romance and piles of books and... romance-The Writer's Romantic Supper takes place in a bookish den with faux painted bookcases and a fabulous Ralph Lauren chair to snuggle into, all set for an evening of romance--can I come????
Eddie Ross for Elle Decor
Finally, Eddie Ross for Elle Decor has created a haven for The Modern Woman, who happens to be a "media mogul and mother of two". This space is a colorful mix of classic and contemporary accented with cherished pieces form travels abroad in a setting fit for living and entertaining. Eddie Ross used a blue and white spatter on the walls and touches of watermelon pink and flowers and toile...for me, this is a room to call home!
